One route, six anchor-drop moments

Every cruise sails the same caldera loop — out of Vlychada, round the lighthouse, up past the volcano and home again. This is the water we grew up on. Scroll to sail it.

Vlychada Marina

We cast off from Santorini's quiet south-coast marina — no cruise-ship queues, easy pickup from every village. The loop starts and ends here; the sea does the rest.

02 — SWIM & SNORKEL

Red Beach

Rust-red lava cliffs straight out of the water. We anchor off the beach where the snorkelling is clearest — masks and fins are already on board.

03 — SWIM STOP

White Beach & Mesa Pigadia

Reachable only by boat: pale pumice cliffs, glass-clear water, and usually nobody else. The quietest swim of the day.

04 — SAIL-PAST

Indian Rocks & the Venetian Lighthouse

We round Santorini's south-west tip past the rock the locals swear is a sleeping face, beneath the 1892 lighthouse of Akrotiri.

05 — THE CROSSING

Up the caldera, past the volcano

We climb the caldera's east side — the black lava island of Nea Kameni to port, Fira, Firostefani and Imerovigli stacked on the cliffs above — until Oia rises on the horizon and we turn for the west side.

06 — WARM SWIM & HOME

Hot springs, then the run home

Down past Thirasia's cliff-hung villages to the warm, iron-rich springs at Palea Kameni. Dark swimsuit, please — the minerals adore a white one. Then bows south, wind behind us, home to Vlychada.

Local white wine, cold beer, soft drinks and water from the moment we clear the marina to the moment we tie up again. The volcanic Assyrtiko tastes best twenty metres from the vineyards' cliffs.

Snorkel three very different seas

Turquoise shallows at Red Beach, deep blue at Mesa Pigadia, warm rust-orange springs at the volcano. Masks, fins and fresh towels are included — just bring the swimsuit.

A 44-foot Lagoon catamaran with two trampoline nets, shaded lounge and proper bathrooms — built for 20, capped at 15 so everyone gets a corner. Pickup and drop-off at hotels and Airbnbs across Santorini: Fira, Oia, Imerovigli, Firostefani, Kamari, Perissa, Akrotiri and Megalochori.
